Community Sexual Assault Programs in Washington State
Where to Find Help
Outside Washington State
If you or someone you know is in crisis or seeking help after a sexual
assault (whether recent or many years in the past), the services listed
below are available to you from your local sexual assault program. To
locate your local sexual assault program, click on the Where to Find Help
button to find the program nearest you. All of the sexual assault programs
listed offer the following services to survivors of sexual violence, their
friends and family, and others who request information. These services
are confidential, and provided without charge.
Crisis Intervention
Trained advocates are available 24 hours a day through a crisis line
to offer you an immediate personal response to crises relating to sexual
abuse/assault.
Legal, Medical, and General Advocacy
Advocates can offer you legal, medical, and general information about
sexual abuse/assault. Advocates can help you learn about your options
in the different medical, legal and social service systems and can accompany
you in these settings. Advocates can act on your behalf to ensure your
interests are represented and your rights are upheld.
Information & Referral
Trained advocates are available 24 hours a day to answer questions and
to give you resources and referrals related to sexual abuse/assault.
System Coordination
Your local sexual assault program works with other agencies that provide
services that are available to survivors of sexual violence, their friends
and family members.
Prevention Services
You local sexual assault program offers services aimed at the prevention
of sexual violence. It strives to:
- Inform the community about sexual violence and to increase the community's
awareness and knowledge about sexual abuse/assault,
- Provide programs and presentations focused on building skills within
the community to prevent sexual abuse/assault, and
- Help facilitate the prevention of sexual violence in different communities.
