National Survey – Please Participate

Dear Fellow Advocates,

 The Safety Net Project (the same project that does the DV Counts: Census Report) at the National Network to End Domestic Violence, in partnership with the Stalking Resource Center and Sage Project, is surveying victim service providers of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking and trafficking on their technology use. For the past 10 years, the Safety Net Project have been training and educating the anti-violence field on technology misuse by abusers and perpetrators and how agencies can harness these tools to enhance and provide services to victims. This survey is the first of its kind to assess service providers the types of technologies they are using and how we can help in providing technical assistance, trainings, and handouts.

In this survey, we are asking about (1) your agency’s use of technology and the challenges in using technology; (2) how you’re using to communicate with survivors and issues survivors bring to you about using those technologies; (3) how perpetrators misuse technology to harm victims; and (4) your community’s response to such abuse. The goal of this comprehensive survey is to develop trainings and resource materials that we can provide you to help you in the four areas listed above.

 Attached are the survey form and a frequently asked questions document that we recommend you read. It shouldn’t take you longer than 20-30 minutes. However, we suggest that you print out the attached document, and write your answer on the document. This way if you get pulled away from the computer and cannot finish filling out the form, the website doesn’t time out on you, forcing you to fill it out again. After you’ve filled out the paper version, we recommend that you go online and fill out the form there. The online form is EXACTLY like the paper version. We will analyze the survey results and in the fall of 2012 and in spring of 2013, we will develop webinars and resource materials for you.
