The 30-hour Advocate Core training is designed to help new sexual assault advocates provide responsive and effective advocacy to survivors of sexual assault. This training meets the requirements as outlined by OCVA. This training has been designed to increase both the knowledge and skill base for training participants and emphasizes a participant-centered training approach.

Advocate Core is considered an introductory, entry-level sexual assault training designed for new volunteers and staff providing sexual assault services to survivors. It has been intentionally designed for those new to the field and should not be considered a relevant training for those who have been providing sexual assault advocacy for two or more years. Although any advocate is welcomed to attend an advocate core training, it is intended for new staff and volunteers and other training forums will be a better fit for those who have been in the field for some time to obtain new skills and knowledge.

All sessions will be 9:30 am - 12:30 pm PST and held via Zoom.

Orientation

A mandatory orientation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 am PST.

In this session, attendees will gain foundational knowledge of the framework, history of critical race theory, and explore the bait and switch misinformation around what it’s not. Whether the language is shaped at CRT, this is the bedrock for dismantling systems of oppression.

En este entrenamiento tendrás oportunidad de repasar y ampliar las prácticas de crear un plan de seguridad, como apoyar a una victima de abuso sexual durante un juicio, órdenes de protección, los derechos de las víctimas en su vivienda, programa de dirección confidencial, y las opciones de alivio migratorio para sobrevivientes inmigrantes. Este entrenamiento es para todo intercesor que trabaja con víctimas de abuso sexual y será facilitado en español, con traducción en Ingles.

Advanced Legal Advocacy

In this training you will have the opportunity to review and expand on the practices of how to create a safety plan, and how to support a victim of sexual assault during trial. You will also be reviewing protection orders, victims' rights and housing, the address confidentiality program, and the options for immigration relief for immigrant survivors. This training is for all advocates who work with victims of sexual abuse and will be facilitated in Spanish, with English translation.

Advocate Core es un entrenamiento para nuevos intercesores de 30 horas, que cumple con los requisitos descritos por OCVA. Está diseñado para nuevos intercesores que estarán trabajando con sobrevivientes de abuso sexual, para aumentar el conocimiento y dar las herramientas necesarias como intercesor.

Este entrenamiento será facilitado en español, y tendrá un enfoque de las necesidades y múltiples barreras que enfrentan sobrevivientes de abuso sexual en la comunidad inmigrante, indocumentada y comunidades indígenas de centro y sur américa.

Todx intercesor será bienvenido a participar, aunque el entrenamiento ha sido diseñado intencionalmente para intercesores y voluntarios que son nuevos en el campo y no debe considerarse un entrenamiento relevante para aquellos que han trabajado en el campo durante dos años o más. Otros entrenamientos serán más adecuados para aquellos que han estado en el campo durante algún tiempo para obtener nuevas habilidades y conocimientos.

Se pide que todo participante asista a la orientación como requisito para participar en el entrenamiento.

El entrenamiento será tres días a la semana; los lunes, miércoles, y viernes por tres semanas. Primer día: miércoles, enero 11, último día, lunes enero 30, 2023. De 9am-1pm.

Advocate Core en español no tiene ningún costo, y se llevara a cabo de manera virtual.
