Shanette Green Professional Development Scholarship
Background
Shanette Green was a much loved employee of the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs who passed away in February, 2004.
In addition to her bright personality, Shanette offered us many gifts of her humor, her warmth, and her support of our work to end sexual violence.
During the course of her professional development at the coalition, Shanette had several opportunities to travel to conferences to expand her skills and network with other activists in the movement. As a result, Shanette observed that opportunities to attend conferences and trainings were often rare for administrative support staff.
She often commented that these trips were some of the highlights of her time at WCSAP, and greatly enhanced her work at the coalition. This scholarship is in her honor to provide similar opportunities for Administrative Staff working in our movement to end sexual violence.
Unequivocally, Shanette touched each one of our hearts and we truly will miss her; but she will forever remain with us as a guiding symbol of strength and love.
Instructions to Apply
Staff or Board from a WCSAP Member Agency may nominate a member of their support staff to attend a training that would enhance their skills or knowledge.
The scholarship can cover conference registration fees, airfare, mileage to and from airport, parking, ground transportation, lodging, and a per diem (reimbursed at a state / federal rates). Maximum scholarship reimbursement is $350. Expenses for reimbursement should be submitted prior to June 30, 2012 for a conference trip that occurred between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012.
Applicants will be evaluated on the following elements:
- Does this individual serve as a member of you agency’s support staff (paid or volunteer)?
- How would training enhance the applicant’s position or skills?
- But for this scholarship, would training be available to your staff person?
