As advocates for survivors and victims of sexual violence, anti-racism is our work. It is not an additional component of our work but is at the heart and the underlying root of combating sexual violence. As sexual assault agencies engaged in ending violence in our communities, our work cannot be complete or successful without confronting racism in all of its forms. In this particular roundtable meeting, the facilitators will share their experiences and knowledge related to shifting organizations to work effectively in addressing this essential issue.

This is an opportunity to connect and learn together in a collaborative space with a community of directors on how we can create equity, maintain diversity, and center the experiences of survivors of Color. As this roundtable meeting will be touching on subject matter dealing with racism it will require ongoing work, based on emerging issues; it is important to note that this gathering will require levels of vulnerability and so we encourage attendees to please wear comfortable clothing and to bring whatever you specifically need in order to ensure that your whole self is present.

This meeting will have a training component and be facilitated; however, our goal is for the participants to be primarily engaged in peer-learning, sharing, and discussion. This will include large group, small group, and partner discussions.

Participants

This meeting is intended specifically for Executive Directors of sexual assault services agencies to engage in learning together. However, if your organization has a structure that will benefit attendance as a management team (i.e., Program Director, Associate Director) you may also register those additional people from your organization. It is important that those in attendance be in leadership positions with an ability to effect change within your organization and knowledge of your agency’s inner workings.
