Description

This training is geared towards advocates and counselors with some foundational knowledge of sexual exploitation and trafficking. Throughout the workshop we will discuss how advocates can increase engagement and support clients across a range of activities. Participants will explore the specific impacts of violence and trauma experienced by people who have been sexually exploited. Additionally, participants will learn about protective factors, coping strategies, and resilience practices to support healing.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about the specific effects of harm, violence, and trauma experienced by people who are sexually exploited.
  • Learn about advocacy strategies to support clients navigating complex systems.
  • Explore coping strategies, protective factors, and resiliency practices to support recovery.

Prerequisite

This training is an intermediate level training. Participants are expected to have a foundational knowledge of the landscape and definitions of exploitation and trafficking. If participants have not sufficiently obtained a foundational course, they will need to view WCSAP's webinar series on commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking.

Lodging

The Ramada by Wyndham in Olympia is offering hotel rooms the night before the training. Single rooms can be reserved at a discounted government per diem rate by calling 1-800-228-3344. Participants are responsible for all lodging costs.

Training Hours and Credits

This training will count as 7.0 hours of ongoing sexual assault trainign for OCVA sexual assault grantees. 

Accessibility

WCSAP makes every effort to ensure accessibility for participants that request them. Please register 3 weeks in advance of March 1st to allow time for scheduling interpreters.

Cost for Members

There is no registration fee for WCSAP Program, Organizational, and Individual members or OCVA Sexual Assault Contractors. Registration is limited. Priority will be given to WCSAP members. To learn about WCSAP memberships, visit our membership page or call Valerie at 360-754-7583.

Cost for Non-members

$75.00 paid in full is required to register for non-members. Payment information will be emailed within a week of registration submission. Registration confirmation will be emailed once payment has been received.

Deadline to Register

Register early as space is limited. Registrations will be accepted until Friday February 22, 2019, or until the training is full. WCSAP members receive priority registration.
