The 30-hour Advocate Core training is designed to help new sexual assault advocates provide responsive and effective advocacy to survivors of sexual assault. This training meets the requirements as outlined by the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy. This training has been designed to increase both the knowledge and skill base for training participants and emphasizes a participant-centered training approach.

During this time of social distancing, we are using a combination of live webinars, recorded webinars, reading, journal prompts, role playing, and e-learning courses to ensure advocates are able to get their initial 30 hours of training.

Live Webinar sessions will take place during a total of 8 sessions:
Mon. 1/11, Wed. 1/13, Fri. 1/15
 Wed. 1/20, Fri. 10/22
Mon. 1/25, Wed. 1/27, Fri. 1/29

A mandatory orientation will be held at 10 am on Thursday, January 7th to review the syllabus, technology, and platforms we will be utilizing, and to answer questions. We estimate about 30 minutes and it will be recorded for those who need to view it at a later time.

There is no fee for members or OCVA grantees. Priority registration will be given to Office of Crime Victims Advocacy (OCVA) sexual assault services and prevention grantees [and Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Program (WCSAP) members]. All other registrants will be admitted on a space available basis. Registration is subject to the approval of WCSAP.
