Please join us in welcoming Susan Marks as WCSAP's new Executive Director.
Susan Marks has committed more than 15 years of her life to supporting survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Her work in this field will continue as our new Executive Director.
“There are many facets to the WCSAP Executive Director position; it requires someone who is an expert in the impacts of sexual violence, a leader who can effectively engage with staff and community partners, a visionary who can define the future of the organization, and an empath who can advocate for marginalized populations,” said WCSAP Interim Board Chair Angie Pacheco. “Susan brings that and many other valuable qualities to our agency.”
Susan currently serves Director of Bellingham-Whatcom County Commission on Sexual & Domestic Violence. She has worked in the role for 10 years. Recently, she also acted as the Interim Executive Director for Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services (DVSAS) of Whatcom County.
“I am excited about the opportunity to develop policy and provide resources and technical assistance statewide, centering the needs of survivors and focusing on root causes of sexual violence,” Marks said.
In her role, Susan will serve as the leader, spokesperson, and policy lead for an agency that supports more than 100 sexual assault programs across Washington state.
“My number one priority is to engage with our membership to understand how WCSAP can better serve them. I am also eager to partner with WCSAP’s DEI expert to continue our work in the area of anti-oppression and racial justice,” said Marks.
Susan will officially begin her role as Executive Director on November 2, 2020.
