Brief Job Description

WWU's Counseling & Wellness Center is seeking a part-time Survivor Advocate to join the team for the 2022-2023 academic year. The Advocate works to increase and support the health and safety of the Western community by providing advocacy services for students with diverse social identities who have experienced sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. This position reports to the Counseling & Wellness Center's Survivor Advocacy Services Coordinator. The CWC offers a generous annual professional development benefit of $800. Some remote work may be possible.

Our Survivor Advocate will have opportunities to:
Facilitate support groups or workshops in response to student needs
Provide guidance in navigating protection orders, court proceedings, preservation of evidence, and additional survivor needs as identified.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree by start of position.
Completion of Advocate Core Training by beginning of position.
Two years of experience in crisis intervention and advocacy.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience working as a part of a collaborative, team-based approach to clinical services in a fast- paced work setting.
Ability to articulate an intersectional understanding of race, identity, marginalization, and violence.

$24,754 - $30,881/year (@ .5FTE, 10-months)
