Socialized gatekeeping explores the role gatekeeping has served in reinforcing oppression strategies. This workshop provides participants the opportunity to have a foundational understanding of the gatekeeping process, its key components and the many ways the machine work to secure those gated in and gated out of opportunity. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Define the gatekeeping mechanisms
- Identify their existing role(s) in the gatekeeping process
- Examine a new role needed to ensure racial equity moves forward
Who should attend: managers, folks in leadership, advocates, preventionists
Priority registration will be given to Office of Crime Victims Advocacy (OCVA) sexual assault services and prevention grantees and Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Program (WCSAP) members. All other registrants will be admitted on a space available basis. Registration is subject to the approval of WCSAP.
