Jon Rylaarsdam, M.S.
Jon has worked within the therapeutic foster care population for nine years in varying capacities. In the Spring of 2017 Jon created a new therapeutic foster care program to add to the existing traditional foster care program at Youthnet. He has a special interest in how childhood trauma and the foster care system impacts those affected and how that relates to our local communities. Jon believes that children and youth in therapeutic foster care are regular children and youth who have had irregular things happen to them. At times, they have challenging behavior, not because they are bad kids, but because they lack the skills required to respond adaptively to the situation. Jon is dedicated to understanding and tending to the impact of trauma in children and young people.
